University of Lethbridge announces departure of coach after complaints of bullying

LETHBRIDGE (660 NEWS) — The head coach of University of Lethbridge women’s hockey team has parted ways with the team after being named in a lawsuit filed by some members of the hockey team. The university issued a brief statement on their website stating they will no longer be commenting on the matter as it’s a “human resources matter”.

The players alleged in the lawsuit filed in August that Pronghorns head coach Michelle Janus made abusive remarks to players and allowed bullying on the team.

The lawsuit also alleges the university did not do enough when multiple concerns were raised as early as 2015.

In November, the university filed a statement of defence calling the allegations, which haven’t been proven in court, scandalous and an abuse of process.
