CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Staff at Mackenzie Towne School in the city’s south-east are taking precautions after a student was diagnosed with Typhoid fever.
In a letter sent to parents on Wednesday, the elementary school said they’re in contact with Alberta Health Services and while risk of exposure is low, the school and buses are being cleaned and sanitized.
They say the child contracted the infection while travelling outside the country.
Parents are advised to have their kids wash their hands often and to keep them home if they’re sick.
