Police identify man in fatal shooting near Kensington Road

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — Calgary police have confirmed the identity of a man shot and killed near Kensington on Tuesday.

Following an autopsy, police confirmed the victim as 34-year-old Jordan Moore of Calgary.

Police took two suspects into custody after the fatal shooting at midnight on Tuesday. They were arrested near Westhills at around 7 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2019. A number of search warrants are also being conducted across the city including near Richmond Rd. and Westhills Way SW.

Police confirmed a connection between a ravine in the southwest end of the city and a fatal shooting yesterday in Kensington. The victim died in hospital after being discovered in an alleyway suffering from gunshot wounds just after midnight on Tuesday.

Portable spotlights are being used illuminate a ravine located behind BestBuy at the Westhills shopping centre. The area has been taped off for the investigation and two police cruisers with their lights flashing are stationed outside the area as police hold the scene until it becomes daylight. It’s a secluded spot off Richmond Rd. in the southwest, often used by homeless people, or as a shortcut to the retail centre.

It’s been a long night for police, an investigator told 660 NEWS they’ve been there since 11 p.m.
