Amtrak disrupted in the Northeast due to NYC downed wire

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Amtrak rail service has been disrupted in the Northeast due to a downed power wire in New York City.

Amtrak officials say the overhead catenary wire came down Friday morning near Pelham Bay in the Bronx and all service between New York and New Haven, Connecticut, was likely to be suspended at least four hours. Officials say service will be down until early afternoon.

Rail service officials did not immediately disclose how the wire came down.

Amtrak trains were operating between New Haven and Boston.

The incident did not affect the Metro-North rail service between New Haven and Grand Central Station in New York. Metro-North was honouring Amtrak tickets between the two cities.
