Automobile Association looks ahead to 2019

OTTAWA (660 NEWS) – It promises to be another solid year for car sales in the country according to the Canadian Automobile Dealers Association (CADA).

CADA Economist Oumar Dicko said 2018 was the second-best year on record for new vehicle sales.

“Despite all the challenges and uncertainty surrounding the auto tariff and the NAFTA renegotiations, the market still showed some resilience and Canadians are still purchasing new, high tech vehicles, fuel-efficient and safer vehicles.”

He said the trend will continue in 2019 in part thanks to increased choice and new technologies coming to market.

Dicko also predicts truck sales to dominate once again after the segment accounted for roughly 70 per cent of new vehicle sales last year.
