Protestors gather outside Kent Hehr Christmas party

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The group was small but vocal, as people lined up to attend Kent Hehr’s Christmas party at the Kerby Centre Saturday morning.

The protestors saying the Liberal MP has not done enough to represent Calgarians or Albertans in Ottawa.

“Kent was a great MLA, don’t get me wrong, he’s a good person and was a good MLA, but he hasn’t done his job as a member of Parliament, that’s why we are here today, we’re saying you haven’t represented us on the oil and gas front, you haven’t stood up about pipeline, you have been completely silent,” said Craig Chandler, who attended the rally.

Chandler said Hehr has ruined Christmas for so many people in this city.

“Kent Hehr has wrecked Christmas, he’s the Grinch, Kent Hehr is the Grinch, that’s the message we are trying to say today.”

Meanwhile, inside enjoying the party, Kent Hehr said the federal government is standing with the people of Calgary and Alberta.

“Our hearts go out to them, I know our government is committed to getting the Trans Mountain pipeline done in the right way,” said Hehr.

Hehr said he understands work needs to get done and he even gets frustrated sometimes with how slow the process is, but he knows the government can’t rush the process.

“We are looking at all options to ensure Alberta is successful, I was very proud of our government for stepping up to the plate and purchasing the Trans Mountain pipeline, this said we are committed to Alberta for getting our oil to new markets and in my view we are going to keep going forward on that.”
