Man dead in early morning crash north of Calgary

SUNDRE (660 NEWS) – One person has died following a two vehicle collision early Saturday morning on a rural highway northwest of Calgary.

RCMP said at about 5:20 a.m., a pickup truck and car collided on Highway 27, about eight kilometres east of Sundre.

The driver of the car, Darryl Hyslop, 39, of Olds, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 22 year old man from Sundre, who was behind the wheel of the pickup, was taken to hospital in Calgary with non-life threatening injuries.

“The RCMP would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Hyslop for their loss,” RCMP said in a release. “It is tragic at anytime to lose a loved one especially more so during the holiday season.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. RCMP said road conditions were good at the time of the crash. Alcohol has not been ruled out as factors.
