One injured in Grande Prairie police-involved shooting

GRANDE PRAIRIE (660 NEWS) – A suspect has been injured following a police-involved shooting in Grande Prairie Tuesday.

It happened in around 4 o’clock in the morning as officers were attempting to stop what they believed to be a stolen vehicle.

According to the RCMP, there was a confrontation between the two suspects and officers, in which one of the members discharged his side arm.

No officer was hurt and they add there was no concern for public safety at any point.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has been directed to investigate police actions and the circumstances that led up to their conduct while the RCMP will look into the incident itself.

Mounties add they will not be commenting any further.
