Stamps a win away from Grey Cup berth

The Calgary Stampeders are trying to make it to the Grey Cup for the third straight season. In their way are the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

These two teams will clash at McMahon Stadium on Sunday in the West Final. Winnipeg is coming off a 23-18 win in Saskatchewan to get to this matchup, while the Stampeders earned a bye into the west final thanks to winning the division.

Peter Klein with Sportsnet 960 The Fan thinks Calgary has a good chance to get the win.

“It’s an intriguing matchup, I think it’s a game the Stampeders can win and can win rather easily, but Winnipeg showed that if you let them hang around they can kinda bite you a little bit, it’s a game I think Calgary can win but it’s not one they should be taken lightly.”

Klein has a simple recipe for success for the Stamps.

“Stop the run, the Winnipeg passing game, they have guys that you recognize with Weston Dressler or with Darvin Adams, but you saw in the Saskatchewan game, Winnipeg wants to run the ball, they have Andrew Harris, probably the best running back in the Canadian Football League, they have to stop that from getting going.”

Klein says on the offensive side of the ball, Bo Levi Mitchell doesn’t need to be special, but he just needs to play like he has all season and not try to force any big plays.

Klein has also made his prediction for the game.

“I think the Stampeders take it in the 23 to 13 range, going to be a fun game but I just think they make a few more plays on offence to get it done.”

Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
