Calgary getting hit with cold blast

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Calgarians might be getting used to the warmer than usual weather but that will soon change.

Arctic air is expected to roll into Calgary but only for one day.

Breakfast Television Meteorologist Andrew Schultz said that the city should expect a drastic temperature swing.

“Over the next 24 hours, we are going to find two things: a moisture feed pushing in from the Pacific and the jetstream slumps. As the jet stream slumps it draws in arctic air so as a result, we’re going to have quite the swing in the high-temperature column, basically, almost 15 degrees from one day to the next.”

The winter weather is expected to hit Thursday night as snow will kick in during the overnight hours and the low will drop to minus 10. Flurries will keep coming Friday and the high will be around minus 6.

The good news is by the time the weekend rolls around the temperatures will be back above zero.
