Officials: Calgary Olympic voting going smoothly

CALGARY (660 NEWS and CITYNEWS) — As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, 153,163 Calgarians have voted, bringing the total number to 207,784.

To date, the voter turnout is 130,814. That number includes the advance vote of 46,620 and 7,990 mail-in ballots.

Voters must first be eligible to vote: you must be a Canadian citizen over the age of 18 that has not already voted in the plebiscite; you must also currently live in Calgary and have lived in Calgary since at least May 13 of this year.

Results of the plebiscite are expected around 10 p.m. According to the City of Calgary, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. is typically the busiest time at voting stations. If you’re in line by 8 p.m., you will be permitted to vote.
