Attempted murder charge laid after woman pushed into path of CTrain

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The Calgary Police Service has charged a woman with attempted murder following a disturbing and frightening incident on a CTrain platform.

On Thursday, a man and woman were waiting at the Victoria Park Station when the suspect allegedly approached the woman from behind and pushed her onto the train tracks.

The train was able to stop before reaching the woman, who is in her 60s.

However, she was seriously hurt, and taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

The attack is believed to be random and unprovoked.

Thirty-five-year-old Stephanie Favel was arrested by a transit peace officer.

She has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and breach of probation.
