80 car train rolls uncontrolled in SE Calgary

There were no derailments, no injuries, and there were no dangerous goods involved, after a an 80 car train rolled away.

 

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A runaway train incident in southeast Calgary remains under investigation.

Chris Krepski, Spokesperson for the Transportation Safety Board, said it happened Tuesday afternoon at the Canadian Pacific Railway’s Alyth yard.

“It was 80 cars that rolled uncontrolled approximately 750 feet,” he said, adding 68 of the cars were loaded, and 12 were empty.

Krepski said there were no derailments, no injuries, and there were no dangerous goods involved.
