CALGARY (660 NEWS) — The Calgary Police Service is putting the search for a new chief human resources officer on hold.
Interim Police Chief Steve Barlow told the police commission Tuesday, the search is being delayed as the service investigates claims from the last CHRO that she couldn’t accomplish anything due to a dictatorship-style leadership, and pushback on recommendations to update HR policy.
Commission chair Brian Thiessen is hopeful the investigation helps the next person in the post succeed.
“I’m disappointed that we’re starting again, that we have to go find a CHRO and I’m hopeful that the work that the service does now and reports back to the commission will provide a stronger base,” Thiessen said.
Thiessen adds the commission will also help in the search for a new CHRO by visiting each district office and talking to service members about their expectations.
