Kidnapping, sexual assault charges laid in alleged central Alberta abduction

RED DEER, Alta. – Charges have been laid against two men after the alleged abduction of a woman in Red Deer, Alta.
RCMP say a witness saw a woman apparently being forced into a pickup truck at a gas station last Wednesday morning.
A quick identification of a possible victim and a suspect led to checks of various homes and vehicles before the 48-year-old woman and a man were located that afternoon.
A second man was arrested that evening and although the woman was injured, she did not require treatment at hospital.
Ernest Frederick Ward, who is 47, and a 25-year-old co-accused, David Lee Gallinger, are both charged with kidnapping.
Ward is facing other counts that include sexual assault and uttering a threat to cause death or bodily harm.
