Former politician being honoured with a Calgary park

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Hundreds of Calgarians and dignitaries are expected to attend the official opening Saturday of Manmeet Singh Bhullar Park.

It honours the life and legacy of the politician who died in a tragic crash in November 2015, when he stopped to help another motorist.

Sheila Taylor, the CEO of Parks Foundation Calgary, praises Manmeet for all that he did for the community.

“He was a hero really to the community, and he was involved in many, many areas, including parks and green spaces. He was a great friend to Parks Foundation Calgary and actually was instrumental in helping us build the 138 kilometre Rotary Mattamy Greenway,” she said.

Bhullar’s wife Namrita Rattan will be among the speakers at the event from 2 to 4 p.m. at the park in Taradale.

The event’s free and includes beverages and live music entertainment.
