What you need to know about the Calgary airport and cannabis

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – One place you’ll be allowed to take your cannabis after legalization is an airplane, as long as you are flying within Canada.

Air travellers can carry up to 30 grams of dried cannabis in carry-on or checked luggage on domestic flights.

However, officials warn you need to be careful if going on an international flight.

“If it was found, it would be confiscated and could be turned over to the Calgary Police Service for further investigation,” explained Alan Lawn, director of terminal operations with YYC Calgary International.

That even includes flights to other countries where cannabis is legal.

The smoking of medical cannabis is permitted in designated areas at YYC Calgary International, in accordance with city bylaw. Recreational marijuana cannot be consumed on airport property.

Signs are posted in the airport to remind people of the rules.
