Zombies, a princess and the west this Saturday in Calgary

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – If you feel like getting into the Halloween spirit early this year the Calgary Zombie Walk is the event for you.

The 2018 edition will start at Olympic Plaza and the walk will go along Stephen Avenue and will eventually end at Tomkins Park.

It’s free for everyone to attend, but you’re asked to bring a non-perishable food item as food and money are being raised for the Calgary Food Bank.

The event starts at noon and the walk will start at 3:30 p.m. with all ages invited, including kids and pets.

Another less scary option, the music of Beauty and the Beast will come alive Saturday afternoon at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

President and CEO of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Paul Dornian, says they project the movie in high-definition onto a giant screen and then the full symphonic orchestra performs the soundtrack live on stage.

“It becomes an absolutely stunning experience. You may have seen the movie before, but it has such a miraculous impact when you see it in the format and hear it with a full orchestra,” he said.

Dornian says it’s a tradition for them to perform a family-friendly movie on the Thanksgiving Day long weekend.   The show gets underway at 2 p.m.

And to wrap up your Saturday, the wild, wild west and the circus collide in a performance.  Under the spell of the saloon’s beautiful belle, a young cowboy hero sets off on a chase.

Arts Commons presents:  Cirque Éloize: Saloon at the Jack Singer Concert Hall at 7:30.
