Calgary breaks all-time one-day snowfall record for October

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It’s the most snow Calgary has seen in one day in October in recorded history.
Environment Canada recorded 32.8 centimetres at YYC Calgary International Airport, just on Tuesday.
Around 37 centimetres in total fell since Monday.
Meteorologist Chris Wielki said it was a rare event.
“The previous one-day snowfall total record was 29.7 centimetres,” he said, adding it was more intense than anyone expected.
“It very quickly picked up some heavy snow throughout the city, and that band just sat there for pretty much a whole day.”
It will be a bit of a rollercoaster for the rest of the week.
“In Calgary, there’s a slight chance of some flurries Thursday afternoon, and then Friday and Saturday looks fairly good as far as precipitation goes — looking at sunny skies, highs of plus nine,” Wielki said.
“(But), there is still snow in the forecast for the weekend.”
