Calgary Police release footage of suspects in massive art heist

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Calgary Police Service hope new security camera pictures and video will help them catch whoever broke into a downtown gallery and stole half a million dollars worth of art.

In May, thieves forced their way into the Gerry Thomas Gallery on 11th Avenue Southwest by using a saw to cut the main door open.

They took dozens of pieces of artwork including various sculptures and paintings. The pieces are estimated to be worth $500,000. Around $10,000 worth of electronics and alcohol was also taken from the gallery.

Police say they then broke into a neighbouring cafe and stole even more items.

The CCTV footage captured still shots of the suspects as seen below.

 

 

Investigators are also looking to speak with anyone who may have information about these break and enters or about the location of the artwork.

Anyone who is looking to buy art are asked to be on the lookout as well.
