Expect a parade of high-heel-clad people marching downtown

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Watch out for a lot of people walking in high heels downtown today. It’s the 13th annual YW Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to help support women and their children who are fleeing violence and abuse.
The Calgary Police Service responded to more than 18,500 calls related to domestic issues in 2017.
The money raised will provide crisis shelter, basic items, counseling, and other means of support for women and their families who need a safe refuge.
Today’s YW Walk a Mile in Her Shoes starts at 12:15 p.m. at the Palace Theatre on 8th Avenue Southwest, goes down Stephen Avenue, and then returns to the Palace Theatre.
