Calgary police prepare for cannabis legalization

In exactly one month, recreational cannabis use will be legalized across Canada.
“It’s (a) pretty substantial change in our culture and community,” said Calgary Police Service Inspector Kevin Forsen.
He says the police service is doing its best to make sure their civilian members are trained ahead of legalization on October 17.
“It’s going to be a process for people to adjust to, so we wanted to get our members a real strong understanding of cannabis in general, its usage, and also the changes in legislation at all levels of government,” he said.
Forsen says they’re running through scenarios and possible calls they could get from the community so they can be as prepared as possible. But there will be some learning and adjustments to make after cannabis is legalized.
