Province announces $1M in Status of Women Grant Funding

The Alberta Government has invested an additional $1 million in a third round of Status of Women Community Grants.

Non-profit organizations can apply for up to 40 new grants that promote women’s economic security, leadership and prevent gender-based violence.

Justice Minister and Solicitor General, Kathleen Ganley tells CityNews that they can do things at the government level, but we need to work throughout society.

“It’s these not-for-profits that have understandings of their own industry and how best to support women in terms of full economic and social participation.”

Over the past two years Status of Women has invested $2.4 million in 65 projects across the province.

The deadline to apply for the third round of funding is Oct. 30 at 4:30 p.m.
