Calgary breaks all-time heat record as mercury soars

We did it!

Calgary now has a new all-time heat record.

The temperature surpassed 36.1 degrees Celsius on Friday making it the hottest day on record in the city.

The high temperature of the day was 36.5 degrees.

Calgary was one of 16 spots in the province to set new temperature records, including Medicine Hat where it got to 40.4 Celsius.

Lethbridge also made it to 40 degrees, breaking the old record from 2003 by more than four degrees.
