Naked swim event OK’d by City of Calgary

A naked swim planned for this month will go ahead.
An uproar over child safety led the city of Calgary to cancel Calgary Nude Recreation’s last event in mid-January, but a release from the group says all conditions have been met to go forward with the February 11 event.
It noted the events are on par with every other nude group in North America, including a couple groups in Edmonton which have been holding events for decades.
It went on to say nobody has ever heard of the nude swims in Edmonton before because nude swims are not a problem in North America.
The release said people who attend nude swims agree that everyone is safe because of the tight-knit community that looks out for each other.
The location of this swim will not be released to the public.
Calgary Nude Recreation is promoting the event as family-friendly and all minors have to be under the direct supervision of a parent, adding guardians must present their child’s birth certificate at the event or they will be refused entry.
In addition to the admission fee, every adult in attendance has to purchase an annual membership for $10 prior to the event and present identification when they check-in.
The group also hinted it’s looking forward to having a public access nude beach near Calgary at some point in the future.
