It appears the new secondary suite process isn’t quite in place yet.
Monday’s city council agenda has about 30 suite applications listed that councillors will have to go through one by one.
Councillor Shane Keating tells CityNews, that’s because these particular applications have already made it through city administrators.
“Once it gets past that point, you can’t stop it because then you have to go to a public hearing, you have to advertise and that process was already well on its way before we passed the motion in December,” he said.
Under the new motion, administrators will be allowed to say “yes” or “no” without councillors getting involved.
The new by-law requires zoning changes for upwards of 200,000 properties, so letters are going out to those homeowners now.
