Donations for fallen Abbotsford Police officer’s family surpass goal

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – Online donations continue to climb for the family of Constable John Davidson.

The Abbotsford Police officer was shot and killed in Abbotsford last Monday while responding to a report of a stolen vehicle. In the several days since his passing, there has been no shortage of support from the community and other first responders.

Jason Warner, who works for Corrections Canada and lives in the Fraser Valley, says this has been a tough loss for the force and the entire city. “I think the community itself has been deeply, deeply impacted and we’ve all come together to embrace this and heal from it.”

Warner also operates a dance club in Abbotsford and says tonight he’s turning his weekly event into a fundraiser. “We have a jar at the front door where we’re hoping people will donate as well as there is a portion of the door profits that are going to be going towards the fundraiser as well.”

He hopes to raise $1,000 tonight for Davidson’s family.
