Jean makes final push to lead UCP

United Conservative Party leadership candidate Brian Jean is claiming he can win in Calgary.

Jean held an event in Rachel Notley’s Edmonton riding early Tuesday, which many would agree is an NDP stronghold, and then did the same in Calgary in Finance Minister Joe Ceci’s riding.

Before Ceci’s win, Calgary-Fort had been held by the PCs since its creation in 1997, leading some to ask Jean: is this really staunch NDP territory?

“I would suggest that this is a stronghold for the NDP. He’s one of the most powerful NDP ministers and certainly, I would suggest since he won here and since he’s got the opportunity to control the finances of the province, he’s got the possibility to win here again,” Jean said.

Fellow candidate Jason Kenney has an event in Calgary Wednesday evening at the Red and White Club, while Doug Schweitzer hosts a meet and greet in Edmonton Wednesday.
