The Calgary Humane Society is investigating after a puppy found abandoned in a dumpster had to be euthanized.
On Tuesday, the dog was found alive but in medical distress near Anderson Road and 24 Street SW.
It’s believed the Labrador/Australian Cattle dog mix was in the dumpster for as long as 48 hours, and the difficult decision was made to put it down.
Animal Cruelty Investigations is now trying to identify the owner, and is looking for anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area over the weekend or on Monday.
Anyone with information can call the Humane Society at 403-205-4455.
