Three Fortis Alberta techs praised for quick-thinking in saving calves

Three technicians from the Strathmore area are being credited for the successful rescue of calves near Brooks, Alberta.

Video of the dramatic rescue has since been posted to YouTube.

It shows them working together to pull the rope, freeing a calf from the icy water below.

The trio had been in the area restoring power after Monday’s snowstorm and lept into action.

Fortis Manager of Corporate Communications Alana Antonelli says there was no hesitation on a part of their crews.

“Our power line technicians live and work in the communities they serve and their neighbours are important to them, when they see something like that where an animal is in distress and needs help, they’re right in there,” she said.

Brooks is southeast of Calgary.
