Midfield Trailer Park residents refuse to move

Weeks away from the deadline to close Midfield Trailer Park, some residents are refusing to leave.

The city’s director of Real Estate and Development Services Doug Cassidy empathizes with those left and said they are working with each tenant on a case by case basis.

“We have Home and Health on site providing support to tenants, and looking at alternative housing, we have Calgary Housing Company on site on a regular basis,” Cassidy said.

The common complaint most have nowhere else to go and the city’s not giving them a fair buy out for their homes.

Debby said what the city is doing is an insult.

“The so-called offers that are supposed to be so fair and so equitable that have come from the city is a joke. I don’t see on what planet betrayal and blackmail and bullying should be treated as any sort of offer of help,” she said.

Residents have to be out by the end of the month.
