The Calgary Tower and Reconciliation Bridge was bathed in blue Wednesday.

That’s all because of World Water Day, and the Calgary-based Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology is raising awareness about the need for clean water around the world.

CAWST is a non-profit engineering firm that teaches people how to get safe drinking water using simple affordable technologies.

“I can definitively say that CAWST is the only organization of its kind in the world,” says CEO Shauna Curry. “We have 5,000 clients in 190 countries, and our clients have reached 13.1 million people with better water sanitation.”

CAWST is hosting a special family event from 4:30 to 7 p.m Wednesday to help raise awareness about global water issues, and what this Calgary organization is doing to address them.
