You don’t have to leave your pooch at the kennel the next time you’re heading out of town.
A new app, being described as the Airbnb for dogs, launched in Calgary Monday.
Co-founder Willson Cross says that after launching “Go Fetch” in a number of Canadian cities recently, many Calgarians were asking for the service to come here.
“In Calgary, where we have a young, millennial demographic as well, it just bodes well for pet ownership so it’s definitely a space that is growing, and we’re just here to make Canadian dog owners’ lives easier.”
Not everybody can qualify to be a sitter, though, as you have to pass a screening process.
“That’s based on their dog care plan, their profile, their over the phone, or in-person if possible, interview. We give them an official government ID verification check, lead by the same third-party source Airbnb uses.”
Cross says only a third of applicants get to be dog sitters.
