Garage fire sends Montgomery residents into the cold

A chilly morning for some residents in the northwest community of Montgomery.

They were forced from their homes after a garage went up in flames around 3 a.m. on 29 Avenue.

Battalion Chief Paul Leblanc says fortunately, they weren’t out for long.

“There was only a few people in each of the (houses), and we were able to house them in their own vehicles or in one of our fire trucks until it was safe for them to go back into their homes,” he said.

Leblanc says the garage and a motorhome parked nearby were destroyed, and a neighbouring garage was slightly damaged.

Nobody was hurt, and investigators are now working on figuring out the cause.
