Students being invited to take part in SADD liquor bag campaign

Alberta youth are being invited to put their pencils to paper and ‘draw the line on drinking and driving.’

Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD), in partnership with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC), have launched a contest where students between kindergarten and grade 12 can personalize a message about the dangers of impaired driving.

The contest winner’s design will be featured on more than 1 million liquor bags.

Alberta teachers and community supporters are also being encouraged to order their free liquor paper bags which will serve as the students’ blank canvas.

Those completed bags will be dropped off at local liquor stores by school staff as a visual reminder not to drive and drive over the holidays.

Last year they ordered 60,000 bags and delivered them to 256 schools.

Any student who enters the contest will have a chance to win 1 in 10 prizes, ranging in value of $100 to $500.

Students are being encouraged to share their design on Instagram using the hashtag #SADDbag.
