Cochrane RCMP looking for couple after French bulldog puppy stolen

RCMP are looking for a couple, believed to be from El Salvador, after a Cochrane woman was assaulted and her French bulldog puppy was stolen.

It happened Sunday around 8:30 p.m. along Township Road 264.

The woman had welcomed a couple into her home who were interested in purchasing the dog but once they got into the house, they picked it up and ran away.

Mounties say the homeowner followed them only to get shoved to the ground as she tried to stop them from running away.

They left in a blue sports car and were last seen heading eastbound on Highway 1A.

The man is described as approximately 5’10” or 5’11” with darker skin, possibly Hispanic and has short, well styled hair with a slender build. He was wearing a blue jacket with a white polo shirt underneath, blue jeans and white Converse-style sneakers.

The woman is also believed to be Hispanic, she had brown hair and a very slender build and was small in size.

They barely spoke English.

The puppy is a Bluenose French Bulldog and is valued at $4,000.

Mounties say it’s a good idea to always be careful when selling goods on social media and take precautions when welcoming strangers into your home.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
