High River RCMP release photo of alleged election night poppy thief

While most people might have been concentrating on the U.S. election on Tuesday night, RCMP say one young man was helping himself to donated money in a poppy box.

It happened at the Heritage Inn in High River around 7:30 p.m.

Mounties say he entered the hotel, grabbed the box and removed an unknown amount of cash before throwing the empty box and poppies to the ground.

He’s being described as between 17 and 20 years of age with dark brown hair, a slim build and between 5’8″ and 6’0″ tall.

Anyone who might recognize him is being urged to contact the High River RCMP at 403-652-2357.
