High River RCMP charge Calgary man with possession of stolen property

It started like an ordinary traffic stop in Nanton, but it ended in a slew of charges for a Calgary man — including possession of stolen property.

Members of the High River Integrated Traffic Unit pulled a vehicle over in around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators arrested a man for possession of a stolen vehicle and “substances listed within the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act”.

They’ve charged a 41-year-old man with 20 counts of Criminal Code charges of possession of stolen property, one charge of possession of a controlled substance and 23 Provincial offence violations.

According to the RCMP, many of the offences involved altering and producing invalid license plates from stolen ones.

They’re not releasing the man’s name. He’ll appear in court next month.
