Bowden Institution has ended its lockdown after an extensive search of the facility that lasted four days.
The lockdown was put in place in the medium security unit on October 3rd.
The move was to eliminate any possible contraband from entering the facility.
Visits to Bowden have since resumed, it’s unclear if their search of the property turned up anything substantial.
Correctional Service Canada says they are strengthening measures to prevent the entry of contraband into its institutions, to ensure a safe and secure environment for everybody.
It is also unclear what, if anything, initially sparked the lockdown.
