A man in his 80s walked away after the plane he was piloting crashed before take off.
At about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, EMS was called to the Indus airstrip in Rockyview.
Spokesperson Stuart Brideaux says the aircraft was speeding down the runway, but rolled and went upside down before it could get in the air.
“Fortunately the pilot had been able to exit the aircraft, essentially under his own power without any extrication required, and was able to meet paramedics and describe what happened.”
He was transported to Foothills Hopsital in stable condition, with just minor soft tissue injuries to his forehead.
