Police investigate reports of a baby left in a hot car

Calgary police are dealing with reports a baby was left in a car parked in front of a north Calgary restaurant Saturday afternoon during an exceptionally warm weekend.

Detective Steve Adair told 660News the parents were tracked down at their home where the baby was found in good health.

“EMS assessed the condition of the child. The child is fine and we will be continuing to investigate that and follow up with the parents,” Adair said.

Police report they have had a number of similar calls during this first full summer weekend involving pets.

“This is the first child call that we’ve had and weather its pets or children, it’s very important to not leave them in the car unattended.”

Adair said it’s easy for a car to reach 50 degrees in the heat and with more hot weather on its way for the coming week, anyone who sees a potentially dangerous situation should not hesitate to call 911.
