Woman now in stable condition following stabbing incident in downtown core

A 19-year-old woman is now in stable, non life-threatening condition after an attack at the edge of Calgary’s Beltline area early Saturday morning.

Police took a 20-year-old man and woman into custody from an LRT station near the Stampede grounds a few hours after the woman was rushed to hospital.

The stabbing happened around a gas station in the 500 block of 17th Avenue southwest at around 4:15 a.m.

Witnesses said it appears two women were fighting.

Investigators believe the woman may have been known to her alleged attackers.

Police told 660News that charges have been laid, but there is no word yet on what those charges are.
