The Twittersphere continues to buzz with reaction to Premier Prentice’s comment that Albertans are to blame for the current provincial budget situation.
Early Friday morning #PrenticeBlamesAlbertans was trending Canada-wide in the top 10 and was the top topic buzzing among Calgary Twitter users.
There is one political pundit however, who appears to agree with Prentice.
Political Scientist David Stewart, at the University of Calgary, thinks Prentice hit the nail on the head.
“He’s absolutely right to say that because we have had a set of services that are not sustainable with the level of taxation we’re willing to pay,” he told City News.
However, Stewart still believes Prentice made a mistake by making the comments.
“I’m sure the premier wishes he never phrased it in quite that way,” he said.
Stewart believes Prentice was trying to point a spotlight at previous governments and their lack financial controls as he prepares to table his budget on March 26.
