Calgary is once again the fastest growing metropolitan area in the country, according to the latest report from Statistics Canada.
As of July 1, the city’s population grew to more than 1,406,721, up 3.5 per cent from the previous year.
The surge is mostly due to the large number of people moving here from other provinces.
The next fastest growing metropolitan areas are Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Regina.
In contrast, the population actually fell in Saint John, New Brunswick, where it is down half a per cent because of the large number of people leaving.
