World Wetlands Day encourages ‘Winter Wake Up’

No matter whether the groundhogs predict a long winter, or an early spring, Canadians are being encouraged to head outdoors.
Monday is also World Wetlands Day, according to Ducks Unlimited Canada.
The occasion celebrates the incredible ecosystems in the world’s wetlands, which provide a habitat for hundreds of wildlife, and naturally filter and store our water.
This year’s ‘Winter Wake Up’ contest is asking Canadians to snap photos or videos of their outdoor adventures in the wetlands, snowshoeing, skating, cross-country skiing and more.
The competition runs until February 17.
