Woman dies after being struck by Semi on Highway 1

CHILLIWACK (NEWS1130) – A Sunday morning crash lead to the death of an unidentified woman.
Inspector Davy Lee with BC RCMP says it happened at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning. “A single vehicle was in a ditch on Highway 1 approximately 5 km east of Chilliwack in the eastbound lane. The female occupant was on the shoulder of the roadway, I guess looking for help, and a passing crew member of the Department of Highways went down to the vehicle to check out to see if there was anybody else in it and for reasons unknown to us, the female driver walked on to the travelling portion of the highway where she was stuck, resulting in her fatality.”
There is no indication speed or alcohol was a factor.
The highway was closed, for several hours.
