Gleichen RCMP officer facing criminal charges

A Gleichen RCMP officer is now facing criminal charges after allegations were filed in relation to an arrest east of the city.
Constable Todd Depagie is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Unlawful Confinement, and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Siksika Nation on November 6th, 2014.
Details remain few and far between, about the circumstances surrounding the original incident in November of 2013.
“When it’s a public complaint that’s received, there’s a process that goes on where a senior officer from the RCMP would investigate a matter like this,” said media relations Officer Corporal Sharon Franks.
“And then generally what happens is once the investigation is concluded, it will go to the Crown Prosecutor’s Office for opinion.”
There’s no word on how long Depagie has been with the force or with the Gleichen detachment.
His duty status is now under review.
