One man arrested in assault at pro-Palestinian rally in the downtown core

A 23-year-old man has been arrested following another violent incident at a pro-Palestinian rally in the downtown core.

It happened just before 5p.m. Wednesday at the C-Train platform at 7th Avenue and 1st Street Southwest.

According to the Calgary Police another man was walking past the “dramatic silent demonstration”, he read a sign out loud and was confronted by the suspect.

There was a verbal altercation and a fight suddenly broke out.

The victim was injured and treated on scene by EMS.

Bilal Mohamed Saada has been charged with one count of common assault.

Saada’s since been released on a promise to appear for his next court date.
