Massive manhunt ends in Bowden

Mounties have gotten their man, making an arrest following a massive manhunt in Bowden Thursday evening.

It all started along the QEII around 6p.m. after officers spotted a stolen car driving erratically.

It was found abandoned a short time later forcing police to put up road blocks, setting up a perimeter inside the community.

A subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle in question had been stolen and was involved in a hit and run incident in Penhold.

The suspect, who was considered armed and dangerous, was found six and a half hours later at a flower nursery along Range Road 11.

Dillon Bristow, 20, was arrested around 12:30 Friday morning without incident.

He’s being held at the Innisfail detachment.

Bristow has a lengthy history with police and was wanted on several offences including robbery with a firearm.

Investigators believe it was Bristow that robbed a man at an Innisfail campground on June 5th, firing shots at the victim.

Callers to the newsroom report seeing upwards of 100 officers and at least 30 police cars.

The Calgary Emergency Response Team and the RCMP helicopter were deployed.

Innisfail RCMP are still planning on updating the media.
