Calgary country artists to hold fundraiser for the families of fallen Moncton Mounties

Cinquecento Cucina in Inglewood will be filled with the sounds of country music Friday night as six up and coming country artists will perform in a fundraiser to raise money for the families of the fallen Moncton Mounties.

The idea is the brainchild of local musician Dan Arnold.

He approached restaurant owner Gennaro Silvestri about the idea and quickly got the ball rolling.

Silvestri tells 660News, for him, the decision was an easy one.

“It’s something that’s kind of hit everyone,” he says. “It’s important to give back to people who give so much to us I think, RCMP officers have an interesting life. My girlfriend’s father is an RCMP officer and I got to share some of the trials and tribulations they went through, moving all the time, all the pressures that were put onto them by the force, it’s like family life.”

He says sometimes you need to look inside yourself and have appreciation for the hard things that everyone else goes through.

Performing alongside Arnold for the event will be Lauren Mayell, Twoshine Country, Lyndsay Butler and Brad Saunders Raw.

Doors open at 7pm, money will be collected at the door and there will also be a silent auction table.

“Calgary came together when we had the flood because it was here locally but I think it’s important that we show everyone in the world that we care about everybody,” adds Silvestri.
